ICOs (short for Initial Coin Offerings) are taking the Bitcoin world by storm. According to MarketWatch, “In the simplest terms, an ICO is a fundraising means in which a company attracts investors looking for the next big crypto score by releasing its own digital currency in exchange, typically, for bitcoin.”
Small companies and organizations are taking advantage of this “tokenization” of their goods and services at an increasing rate. Furthermore, this new marketplace is raising questions of regulation and control, most of which are still up for debate. For the time being, ICOs are just one more way investors are accessing the booming cryptocurrency market.
