This performance illustrates the power of options leverage when the directional thesis proves correct, though it’s important to note that this same leverage can work against traders when market moves go in the opposite direction.
Earnings Fireworks: AWS Growth & AI Momentum Ignite Rally The breakout was triggered immediately after Amazon’s Q3 report on October 30, which crushed expectations across the board. Revenue hit $180.17 billion (vs. $177.80B est.), while EPS came in at $1.95 (vs. $1.57 est.). Operating income held firm at $17.40 billion despite one-time hits, and net income surged thanks to a $9.50 billion pre-tax gain from the company’s stake in AI leader Anthropic.
The star of the show? AWS, which posted $33.00 billion in revenue—up 20.20% year-over-year and marking its fastest growth since 2022. CEO Andy Jassy called AI “the single largest driver of new cloud workloads,” with tools like Amazon Connect now running over 12.00 billion AI-powered customer interactions and crossing a $1.00 billion annualized revenue run rate. The beat sent shares soaring 13.00% in after-hours trading, adding over $150.00 billion to Amazon’s market cap in a single session.
AI Supercycle, E-Commerce Dominance, and Holiday Tailwinds Amazon’s momentum has carried into the new week, with shares up nearly 12.00% since earnings and hitting fresh all-time highs near $255.37. The company raised its 2025 capex guidance to $125.00 billion, with the lion’s share going to AWS data centers and next-gen AI chips like Trainium3, which delivers 30.00–40.00% better price-performance than competitors.
E-commerce remains a juggernaut—same-day delivery of perishables is expanding to over 2,300 U.S. cities by year-end, and Amazon Pharmacy grew 50.00% year-over-year. Advertising is another growth engine, bolstered by full-funnel tools and partnerships with Roku and Netflix.
With Black Friday and Cyber Monday looming—where 73.00% of shoppers name Amazon their top deals destination—and November historically delivering 1.80% average S&P 500 gains, the path of least resistance remains higher.
AMZN was last down on the session by 1.55% at $250.06.
