Bitcoin Dumps Following Another Musk Tweet

Elon Musk just can’t stop spouting off about crypto on Twitter.

Bitcoin ($BTC) investors were already roiling from Elon’s last bombshell tweet on Wednesday. That’s when he announced Tesla ($TSLA) would no longer accept the cryptocurrency for vehicle purchases over concerns over the cryptocurrency’s environmental impact.

Musk was right back at it again on Sunday. The business mogul sent a vague tweet that struck a nerve with many crypto enthusiasts.

Bitcoin took a 3.7% drop to near $45,100 Sunday afternoon EST after Tesla CEO Elon Musk did not outright deny that his electric-car company has sold or could soon sell all of its more than $1 billion holdings of bitcoin because of the criticism he’s received after suspending the world’s largest cryptocurrency as a form of payment.

Earlier in the day, Musk also tweeted at Peter McCormack, who posted a Twitter thread about Musk’s criticism of bitcoin and support for dogecoin, saying that “obnoxious threads like this make me want to go all in on Doge”.

Bitcoin fell further to the downside throughout the day before hitting a low of $42,185 overnight. At writing, the cryptocurrency is beginning to recover and stabilize — trading slightly higher at $45,614.
