It took a little over a month for option traders to chalk up another win in the Xtrackers Harvest CSI 300 China A Fund.
On February 25, Investitute’s tracking systems found that 16,500 18April $29.71 calls were bought for $0.62 and $0.66, as part of a bullish roll, with shares at $28.09. This was clearly fresh buying, as volume was far above the strike’s existing open interest of 209 contracts, and had apparently rolled an existing winning position in the name.
Those calls traded for $1.31 today, more than double their average purchase prices. The stock rose 9.58% in the same time frame, showing how options can far outperform their underlying shares.
ASHR was up 0.85% to $30.79 today, also its high for the session. The exchange-traded fund continued to rally today after the U.S. employment situation rebounded from February data, bolstering the outlook for a return to global growth.
