Criminals prefer the easy way, which explains the shift from ransomware to malware aimed at pirate mining Monero — or cryptojacking, as its become known. It’s easy.

So chances are on the rise that your computer could become the target of these cryptojackers. But there’s a lot you can do to protect yourself and to remove the malware if your computer’s already been hijacked.

The Pirate Bay turns transparent: Can cryptocurrency mining really replace ads?

On a related note, is it pirate mining if you are ok with it — even if the pirate has a name like The Pirate Bay?

The Torrent search website The Pirate Bay has launched a trial and transparent program that informs users their computers will be used to mine Monero unless they install an adblocker. It’s their answer to ads and one that some users don’t mind.

We think, as long as users are informed, why not?
