Option traders are racking up more winnings in Las Vegas Sands (LVS) today.
On Apr. 24, our Unusual Activity Service detected the purchase of 14,000 June $50 calls, mostly in one print of 10,469, for $1.90 to $2.25 above open interest of 2,092 contracts with shares at $43.94.
Those calls traded for as much as $4.20 today, more than double their average purchase price. The stock rose 12.97% in the same time period, underscoring how options can far outperform their underlying shares.
It is the second winning trade in the name to be posted on Market Rebellion in less than the past week.
Long calls lock in the price where investors can buy a stock, letting them position for a rally at limited cost with the potential for significant leverage. They carry less risk than owning shares because the most that can be lost is the price of the options no matter how far the stock might fall.
LVS traded as high as $49.99 earlier this session but has since pulled back, last down 0.11% to $46.34 this afternoon. The company has continued to trade higher since reporting earnings last week.
