Fluor Corporation (FLR) Call Prices Rise

Upside option positions are delivering massive profits in Fluor Corporation (FLR).

On May 14, Market Rebellion’s Unusual Activity Service identified the purchase of 5,000 July $50 call options for $0.25-$0.30 per contract, with FLR shares trading at $38.50-$38.54, significantly exceeding the strike’s previous open interest of 47 contracts.

The order came just days after the company reported strong first-quarter results that highlighted its “grow and execute” strategy phase.

Those July $50 calls have traded as high as $4.00 today with the stock at $53.77, delivering impressive returns of approximately 1,233.33% to 1,500.00% from the initial entry price range of $0.25-$0.30. Meanwhile, FLR shares gained approximately 39.66% from their initial trading level around $38.50, demonstrating how options can deliver significantly amplified returns compared to simply owning the underlying stock.

This performance illustrates the power of options leverage when the directional thesis proves correct, though it’s important to note that this same leverage can work against traders when market moves go in the opposite direction.

The explosive move in FLR comes as the engineering and construction giant benefits from strong fundamentals following its May 2, 2025 first-quarter earnings report. Fluor reported Q1 revenue of $4.0 billion, marking a 7% year-over-year increase, while maintaining its guidance for 2025. The company demonstrated strong execution capabilities with a revenue book-to-burn ratio of 1.5x and accelerated Q1 share repurchases of $142 million, targeting $600 million in repurchases for 2025.

The company reported consolidated new awards of $5.8 billion with a total backlog of $28.7 billion, with 79% reimbursable, providing strong revenue visibility. Despite a GAAP net loss recorded due to equity losses, the company maintained its guidance for the year, showcasing resilience and commitment to strategic objectives.

Fluor Corporation specializes in engineering, procurement, construction, fabrication and modular services for clients in diverse industries worldwide. The company’s nearly 27,000 employees provide professional and technical solutions that deliver safe, well-executed, capital-efficient projects to clients around the world. Fluor had revenue of $16.3 billion in 2024 and is ranked 257 among the Fortune 500 companies.

FLR was last trading at $53.14, down 1.25% on the day.
