Oscar Health (OSCR) Call Options Rally

Upside option positions are delivering exceptional profits in Oscar Health, Inc. (OSCR).

On Jun. 17, Market Rebellion’s Unusual Activity programs identified the purchase of 8,000 July 16 call options for $1.20 to $1.80 per contract, with OSCR shares trading in a range of $15.42-$16.51, significantly exceeding the strike’s previous open interest of 4,399 contracts.

The timing proved remarkably fortuitous, coinciding with emerging Medicare expansion proposals and strong momentum in the healthcare technology sector.

Those July 16 calls have traded as high as $5.51 today with the stock at $21.17, delivering impressive returns of approximately 206.11% to 359.17% from the initial entry price range of $1.20 to $1.80. Meanwhile, OSCR shares have gained approximately 37.29% from their initial trading level around $15.42, demonstrating how options can deliver significantly amplified returns compared to simply owning the underlying stock.

This performance illustrates the power of options leverage when the directional thesis proves correct, though it’s important to note that this same leverage can work against traders when market moves go in the opposite direction.

Oscar Health, Inc. specializes in technology-driven health insurance, offering Individual & Family plans and health technology solutions through its +Oscar platform. The company has been challenging the traditional healthcare system since 2012, focusing on making healthcare more accessible and affordable through its full-stack technology platform. Oscar serves approximately 2 million members and will expand to 504 counties across 18 states in 2025, with particular strength in ACA marketplace plans and growing Medicare Advantage offerings.

OSCR was last trading at $20.11, up 4.79% on the day and up 30.42% from the $15.42 level when the original call activity was spotted.
