We’ve got NBA playoffs and an NFL teams future on deck today!
May 11: NBA- Boston Celtics vs Philadelphia 76ers
Boston is imploding. They’re down 2-3 in their series against Philly after going up 2-1 and now face a do-or-die situation in enemy territory.
Their defense is having trouble stopping the high-powered 76ers offense for long stretches each night and Jayson Tatum has shot 22.6% from beyond the arc in his past four games.
Couple that with the 76ers ability to pull out a win without MVP Joel Embiid and you’ve got a team that could see their season end tonight.
However, sportsbooks aren’t sold on the 76ers. They’ve been the betting underdog for six straight games and are +120 to close out the series tonight (the Celtics are -140 favorites).
Embiid is questionable to play at the time of this writing, but we’re taking Philly at positive odds anyway. They’ve been playing well and home court should give them some extra juice to close out this series.
Rebel’s Pick: Philadelphia 76ers ML (+120) @ 1U
Future: NFL- Green Bay Packers
NFL schedules have finally been released and sportsbooks (unsurprisingly) aren’t sold on the Green Bay Packers as Jordan Love takes over as QB.
Their O/U regular season wins total stands at 7.5, with the over offering positive money at +120.
We think odds-makers are underestimating the Pack with these numbers. Yes, future HOF QB Aaron Rodgers is gone, but Green Bay’s QB coach specifically stayed this season to help Love elevate his game and everyone has been praising the strides Love has taken in the past year.
Of course, no one in the organization is going to openly say that Love stinks, but there are other parts of the team that can help grind out wins.
For one, Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon are one of the league’s most dynamic 1-2 punch. Jones has the speed and agility to slip through the smallest hole, while Dillon can power his way through bodies to get those crucial extra yards on a third down.
They’ve also got a defense that realistically can’t play any worse than last season when you consider how many high-end draft picks they’ve committed to over the past five years.
If HC Matt LaFleur can commit to the run game for once and Joe Barry figures out how to run a defense, the Packers should easily hit the over on wins.
Rebel’s Pick: Green Bay Packers Over 7.5 Regular Season Wins (+120) @ 1U
