Everyone’s talking about the NBA playoffs while we’re over here begging people to watch the NHL and college lacrosse.

May 18: NHL- Florida Panthers vs Carolina Hurricanes

The Eastern Conference Final kicks off tonight between two exciting teams. We’ve got the heavy-hitting Florida Panthers facing off against the speedy Carolina Hurricanes.

The O/U stands at 5.5 and we’re taking the Under (+105) here.

Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has gone super Saiyan since relieving Alex Lyon midway through Round 1 and has showed no signs of slowing down. He stole multiple games in Round 2 against the Maple Leafs and is back to his Vezina-winning form.

Their defense is full of guys that are committed to finishing their checks and will lay you out if you’ve got your head down.

Regardless of how skilled a team is, if you’ve got a guy barreling down on you whenever you have the puck, you’re going to start forcing plays a bit more.

That’s not to say the Hurricanes can’t hold their own- they can. But, the Panthers have the skill to neutralize some of the speed that is integral to the Canes’ offense.

Carolina’s goalie situation is a little different. They have two goalies that can alternate starts, but that’s because neither is fully “the guy.”

Their goaltending situation has been strong all postseason, and they’ve got a reliable defense, highlighted by Jacob Slavin and Brent Burns.

There will almost certainly be scoring tonight, but five goals to kick off the ECF is a lot and we expect both teams to take some time to figure out their opponent.

Rebel’s Pick: Under 5.5 Goals (+105) @ 1U

May 20: College Lacrosse- Georgetown vs Virginia

It’s the week of Unders!

Saturday’s matchup between Georgetown and Virginia kicks off the second round of the NCAA lacrosse tournament and there’s one thing that will be guaranteed: goals.

Georgetown enters the game as the sixth-highest scoring team (14.88 goals/game) but will be facing the top-scoring team in Virginia (17.60 goals/game).

You’re probably asking us- why would you take the under? Because the current O/U stands at 29.5 and 30 goals is A LOT to score in a game, even with two offenses like this.

Virginia rocks a solid defense, albeit one that won’t turn heads, but taking the over here is betting on both teams to hit their goals/game average. With a chance to make it to the final four on the line, we expect both teams to prefer a slower pace of play if the other starts to go on a run.

Rebel’s Pick: Under 29.5 Goals (-115) @ 1U
