We’re back and refreshed after a short one-week break!
August 8- NFL: Hall of Fame Game
Football is back, baby! Well, kind of. It’s the start of the pre-season, but it’s been 172 days since the Super Bowl — so we’ll take any action we can get.
The pre-season kicks off tonight with the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio as the Las Vegas Raiders face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
We’re not going to lie; the pre-season is a crapshoot when it comes to betting on a certain team. Jacksonville will be playing its third-string QB and RB Travis Etienne has already been ruled out. Chances are, you won’t know most of the players on the field.
This game will probably be a snooze-fest, but that’s OK because it makes the under a very appealing pick. The O/U is set at 30.5 with equal odds at -110.
With five of the last six HoF games hitting the under, we will be riding that side of the points.
Rebel’s Pick: Under 30.5 (-110) @ 1U
August 8- MLB: Chicago Cubs @ St. Louis Cardinals
The Cubs and Cardinals are in the middle of the first game of a double-header at the time of this writing. The Cubs are leading and that’s good news for us.
If St. Louis loses the first game, they’ll most certainly come out with some energy in game two. With that in mind, we’re taking the Cardinals -1.5 (+115).
The Cubs will have Sean Newcomb on the mound, who currently has an 11.57 ERA. For those who don’t know baseball, that’s bad. Meanwhile, Jose Quintana will be facing Chicago’s batters. He sports a 3.50 ERA.
The Cardinals are the better team and stand just a half-a-game back from the final Wildcard spot. This is a game they need to win and Chicago’s pitching is even worse after they traded most of the bullpen ahead of the trade deadline. Give us the Run Line.
Rebel’s Pick: Cardinals -1.5 (+115) @ 1U
