Cryptocurrency experts from around the world have congregated in Miami this week for the 7th annual ‘The North American Bitcoin Conference.’ 2019 has been a relatively tame year for crypto, and it is during years like these that developers have time to build out projects and innovate. In many ways, The North American Bitcoin Conference sets the tone for the crypto community for the year and gives the community an idea of what to expect and where things are headed.
Big Names Draw Big Crowd
The event kicked off this morning, January 16th, with Mayor Francis X Suarez’s opening remarks. He briefly spoke about the potential benefits of blockchain adoption and how he firmly believes Miami can be a hub for both innovation and adoption. Other notable speakers here at the conference include Bobby Lee, Brock Pierce, Jon Najarian, Charlie Shrem, and many more. Bobby Lee, CEO of Ballet, gave a talk about how to make cryptocurrency more accessible to everyone by providing simple and elegant hardware wallet solutions. Brock Pierce is a pioneer in the blockchain space and has been at the center of the creation of many disruptive businesses and shared his experience as an advisor and an investor. The speakers come from a diverse background of trading and development, but are all united in a common belief that blockchain can revolutionize the way we conduct finance.
Who is in the Crowd?
The attendees of the conference also come from a diverse background, but there is an overwhelming sentiment of excitement for 2020 and the blockchain advancements that will come with it. I had the opportunity to speak with some of the attendees to get a feel for what people are most excited about and received a variety of answers. Some were excited about the 2020 halvening and what this event will do to the price of Bitcoin, while others were more excited about how changes in the regulatory landscape will provide them with new investment opportunities. It seems like everyone, whether investor or developer, has something to look forward to in 2020.
