Inflation Data, $DIS Earnings — Your Trading Week Ahead

Equity markets reached new all-time highs after Friday’s blowout jobs report. Non-farm payrolls were expected to add about 845,000 jobs during July. But the U.S. economy beat that estimate by adding 943,000 jobs.

The S&P 500 finished the week higher by 0.93% at 4,436. The Dow rose by 0.78% at 35,208. The Nasdaq also closed higher at 14,835 — up 1.11% from the previous week.

What to watch this week

Inflation data

Fresh off of positive jobs numbers, inflation data will be the next hot topic for markets in the trading week ahead. We’ll get reports for both consumer and producer level inflation on Wednesday and Thursday.

CPI and PPI will be important to watch as inflation remains a key factor influencing the Federal Reserve’s decisions on monetary policy. Markets are grasping for anything that will help determine when the central bank will begin stepping away from QE measures.

Earnings roundup

While we’ve already heard from some of the biggest names this earnings cycle, there are a ton of popular stocks still left to report.
